CPHC Weekly News

There is so much happening this week that I won’t waste time with a long intro. Let’s just get to it!

PWAP 2017… it’s a wrap!

Wow. I am truly humbled, Parrot Heads, at how many of you participated in last weekend’s Party With a Purpose. It was a wonderful day, full of great friends, delicious food (so much food!) and wonderful music. And while there are still some final donations being tabulated, I know that this year’s PWAP raised more than $15,000 for TLC Meals on Wheels! AMAZING! Not only that, but I heard that the trailer full of food donations was even fuller than it was last year. As always, I am taken away by your generosity!

I could take up the entire newsletter thanking each of you who participated in this event. So many of our phlock join in making this party a success by volunteering their time, performing, creating the stage, selling tickets and merchandise, cleaning up, etc. There are seriously too many names to mention, but just know, I am thankful for each & every one of you! And one more time, a big thanks to Lee and Robin for being so giving of their time and property, and working hard for months to make each year’s event more successful than the one before. Thank you ALL!

And on a phun note… We have PWAP pictures to share… we’re just slow getting them posted. I promise to get our photos uploaded to Facebook & our web page later today so you can check them out. I love seeing all the photos you’ve all shared, it is a great reminder of all the fun we had that day!

Did someone say… PARADE??

The Colorado Parrot Heads have been invited to participate in the 1st Annual Broadway Halloween Parade hosted by the Broadway Merchants Association and City Council Lucky District 7. This brand new community-friendly event will be held on Saturday, October 21 at 6pm in the eclectic and funky heart of Broadway in downtown Denver, between 3rd and Alameda. The parade is looking for spooky floats and marchers, and attendees are invited to dress up and join in the fun!

So what do you think? We thought this event sounded perfect for our crazy phlock of costume-wearing, parade-loving, hard-partying Parrot Heads!

There is a lot to figure out, but here’s our intial thoughts: We were thinking we could participate for phun, and not go crazy with an elaborate theme or float. In fact, we were thinking of using a small trailer and creating something that could be assembled the day of the parade. After the parade we could phlock to some nearby bars for celebratory drinks.. maybe even a mini pub crawl (any volunteers to set that up?) We are open to just about anything, as long as we keep it fun & simple.

FYI, the parade takes place on the 3rd Saturday, so if we participate we would skip our October meeting. Since we had planned on doing fundraising for breast cancer charities in October, we’d move that to the September meeting instead.

Learn more about the parade at www.broadwayhalloweenparade.com and let me know what you think. If there is enough interest, I say we sign up and then we’ll start making some plans. Reply this week with your input and we’ll make a decision by the next newsletter.

MOTM 2017

We have a small but mighty group of Colorado Parrot Heads registered to attend this year’s Meeting of the Minds in Key West. It’s not too late if you want to sign up.. but the deadline is getting close! You only have until SEPTEMBER 1 to register if you want to attend. Visit http://www.phip.com/motmregistration to sign up, or for more details. Once we get the final list of attendees in early September, we’ll be sending you some MOTM specific details from PHiP and other clubs who may be having parties/events, or who need volunteers. We hope you all have a great time at the party this year!

If you read all the way to the end, I commend you. That was a long one!

Fins up,

Jeff
