Party With a Purpose!!
Sunday, August 8, PWAP!

This year we will have Mike Nash playing, followed up by a local band called Johnny & The Mongrels.  They are a high powered, New Orleans influenced band that is the perfect combination of a funk filled heart and a deep Bayou soul.

Cost will be $45.

We are still in need of donations! I have only heard from a few people on this.  Please let me know what you plan to donate, so I can start the list and put together the auction sheets.  I also need to know if you plan on donating a basket for our  “Chinese Raffle.”
Please contact Karen or Robin if you have something you’d like to donate for us.

Date: Sunday, August 8, 2021.
Time: 2:00pm – 8pm
. (we realize it is a Sunday, so we are planning the evening to be over by 8pm)
Where:  Pete’s Place (the Arvada Smokin Tuna) 5461 Marshall Street, Arvada.

Bring your own chair, sunscreen, and an “Easy Up” if you have one.  There is usually plenty of shade in the yard, so if you don’t have an Easy-Up, there will still be shady spots.

Bring your own favorite beverages

The Wonderful and always amazing, Judi Fulton, was able to secure lunch for 100 people for our event.  We’ll have Jimmy Johns Sandwiches and QDoba burritos, all individually wrapped so we don’t have to worry about ‘sharing’ and Covid rules.  We will have a free will donation jar set up by the food.  All proceeds for the lunch will go to our 2 charities.  If you’d like to donate money for the lunches, please do, but it won’t be required.  You’ll still be able to eat without a donation.  If those items don’t sound good to you, it is always ok to bring your own food.

Bring your own snacks if you’d like to munch during the day and evening.

This year, we will also have a Jell-O shot table!!  We will ask for $1 donations for each Jell-O shot. This will be on the honor system with a jar sitting by the Jell-O shots.  All money will go to the charities.  We’re looking for people who want to bring Jell-O shots to donate.. so get those yummy Jell-o and pudding shot recipes out and bring them to the PWAP!

Tickets are on sale through the website at https://coloradoparrotheadclub.org/pay-cphc/

We will also have tickets for sale at each of the meetings. See Pete, Robin or Karen for ticket purchase at the meetings.

This year, I am excited to announce our charities, one of them we’ve had in the Past and that is My Fairy Dawg Mother.  You are all probably familiar with them.  They are a non-profit, foster based dog rescue.  They have greatly appreciated our help in the past, so let’s help them again this year!!

Our second charity is a new one for us.  It is called “Over the Edge,” run by our own CPHC member Dick Fulton, Executive Director of PVA CA chapter. This event raises funds for paralyzed veterans to enjoy adaptive sports, learn a new trade, travel, and earn educational scholarship.

Paralyzed Veterans of America, a congressionally chartered veterans service organization founded in 1946, has developed a unique expertise on a wide variety of issues involving the special needs of their members – veterans of the armed forces,  who have experienced spinal cord injury or dysfunction. PVA will use that expertise to be the leading advocate for: Quality health care for their members, Research and education addressing spinal cord injury and dysfunction, Benefits available as a result of their members’ military service, Civil rights and opportunities that maximize the independence of their members. To enable Paralyzed Veterans to continue to honor this commitment, they recruit and retain members who have the experience, energy, dedication, and passion necessary to manage the organization and ensure adequate resources to sustain the programs essential for Paralyzed Veterans of America to achieve its mission.
