Hello and Happy Spring!
Hello Parrot Heads! The weather is finally warming up and I THINK (hope) we are finished with the SNOW for the season.
Our Colorado Avalanche are doing great so far in the playoffs.. and our Nuggets won their playoff game the other night. Go Avs and Go Nuggets!!
The monthly meeting is this Saturday night, April 20, 6pm at Hoppers. You won’t want to miss this one! Our charity this month is for baby flamingos! More than 1800 Lesser Flamingo chicks were abandoned during a drought in South Africa in January. The Denver Zoo is sending a couple of staff members down to Cape Town to help care for some of the rescued chicks. They are all being hand raised, and studied extensively. Lesser Flamingos are becoming increasingly threatened by habitat destruction. Our charity this month will go to the Denver Zoo specifically for this program to help care for the flamingo chicks. We’ll have lots of fun raffle items! Hope to see everyone there!
Please wear pink to the meeting, (not required, but we thought it would be fun) so we can take a big group photo, all in pink, to send to the zoo along with our donation.
It’s almost time for Party with a Purpose!!

Pete will be walking around selling hot pink armbands. This is your ticket to the party this year. We have a great line-up in store so the tickets will be $50 this year. We have Thom Shepherd and Coley McCabe with their entire band; Mike Nash and his new band (formerly Southern Drawl); and Stoney Gable. (Unfortunately, our very own Brain Wunderlich, can’t make it this year.)
I know $50 is a lot more than prior years, but we have some top notch entertainment lined up for a full day of music! I’ve heard some concerns about the cost this year, but it’s really just giving up 1 Starbucks a week.
We’ve got some great donations this year for our silent auction, but as always, we can use all the donations we can get for the silent auction and raffle prizes at the event. Please contact Karen Bell or Robin Reed to discuss, if you’d like to help us out.
The Colorado Rockies are having “Margaritaville Night at the Rockies” again this year. Anyone who went last year can tell you how much fun this is.. so you won’t want to miss this one! Mark your calendars and join us as we “Escape to Coors Field” for a fun-filled, “beachy” day, featuring a pregame rooftop performance by a live tribute band! Each ticket purchased includes a Rockies Margaritaville-themed shirt.
