Hello and Happy Thursday, Parrot Heads!!

It looks like Summer is finally here! Nice warm weather and those beautiful blue skies Colorado is known for!

JUNE EVENTS

Thank you to all the Parrot Heads who stopped by to support My Fairy Dawg Mother! It was a fun day! Good beer, great company and lots of dogs! I know my dogs had a good time.. although they weren’t so keen on the dog paw print paint booth. The charity raised $4700!! Thanks to all the Parrot Heads for supporting this event and this charity! We still have some of the SUPER COOL pint glasses left over, that we’ll be selling at the meeting on Saturday if anyone is interested.

Club Meeting this Saturday – June 15!! Hoppers, off of I-70 and Kipling. This month our charity will be the Melanoma Research Foundation. As I’m sure you are all aware, Melanoma is the deadly form of skin cancer. Since Parrot Heads tend to phlock to the beach and sunshine… we ALL need to be aware of this awful disease. We do this same fundraiser every June, because skin cancer is so personal to so many of our members. Let’s make this a good night for a great cause!

As always, please help us out if you can, by bringing a raffle item or 2 to donate to us on Saturday. Thanks!

Get your Party with a Purpose wrist bands on Saturday at the meeting! We have a great line up this year! (See the information below.) Karen and Robin will have wrist bands for sale at the meeting.

It just happens to also be the CPHC 25th Anniversary.. so we’ll be celebrating our “Silver Anniversary” at the Party on the 27th!!

Don’t forget, the traveling Vietnam War Memorial, is coming to town.
“The Wall That Heals” will be in Arvada from June 20-23. It is a 3/4 scale replica of the Vietnam War Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. It honors service members of the U.S. armed forces who fought in the Vietnam War. Engraved on it are the names of 58,318 service members who died in service in Vietnam/South East Asia, and those service members who were unaccounted for during the war. It will be at the Faith Bible Chapel, 6250 Wright St, Arvada (64th and Ward). It will be open 24 hours a day and is free to the public.

JULY EVENTS

“Margaritaville Night at the Rockies.” For those who haven’t already picked up your tickets from Karen Bell. Please get in touch with her at [email protected] to arrange getting your tickets from her.

The Rockies ticket agent contacted me and let me know there are still tickets available. You can buy them online at: www.rockies.com/margaritaville

Remember – The Rockies issued the tickets by T-Shirt size. So all those with the same sized t-shirt have seats together. Don’t trade the tickets until after you get your shirt at the game. We want everyone to sit with their own spouses and family, so we’ll have to figure out the seating when we get there.

Our friends and fellow Parrot Heads from the Northern Denver PHC will be joining us that night!

“Escape to Coors Field” on July 13, 2019 will be a fun-filled “beachy” day. When we find out what time the gates open for the pregame rooftop performance by a Buffett Tribute band, we will let everyone know. We will also let you know what gate you need to go to in order to get your t-shirt for the event.

Details:
Colorado Rockies vs. Cincinnati Reds
Saturday, July 13 at 6:10pm

It’s almost time for Party with a Purpose
(a.k.a Parrot Head 5280 Fest)!!

Pete will be selling tickets at the each meeting, or you can buy them through the PayPal link on our website. Your ticket this year will be a hot pink wrist band!! We have a limited number left.. so get your wrist bands while they last! This wrist band is your ticket to the party this year, and will be required to enter. Pete has built a very nice permanent stage, replica of the Smokin’ Tuna in his yard!! We have a great line-up in store so the tickets will be $50 this year. We have Thom Shepherd and Coley McCabe with their entire band! We have Mike Nash and the new Southern Drawl Band; and Stoney Gable!! You won’t want to miss this!! It will be phun philled day!! Contact Pete, Robin or Karen for tickets.

We have some awesome charities this year!
The Community Table (Food Bank) and My Fairy Dawg Mother (Dog Rescue)

As always, we will have an awesome silent auction and “Chinese raffle,” with all the proceeds being split between these 2 charities.

This is also a food drive.. so please bring canned goods; peanut butter and canned proteins; toiletries; and dog and cat food. All of the donated items will go to help the Community Table. For those of you unfamiliar with the Community Table, it is a non-profit organization that offers many services. These include emergency, low income senior, and other food assistance. They have an amazing facility where they not only provide food, they provide job placement assistance, housing assistance and many other services for low income families. One of my favorite programs there is called “Feeding the Future.” This awesome program provides a bag of food every Friday to the kids on the free or reduced lunch program at the local schools. This ensures the kids have food for the weekends.

My Fairy Dog Mother is a no shelter dog rescue. It was founded in an effort to save abused and neglected dogs from across the United States and pair them with loving and stable Colorado families. They are a Colorado based non-profit dog rescue that advocates finding the perfect long term home for each dog that is brought under the rescue umbrella. Their foster program is constructed of a large group of Colorado families that have opened their homes to our rescue dogs. By temporarily housing a rescue dog in a functional home they erase the stresses that boarding facilities can induce. The integration of a rescue pup into an established pack promotes socialization and develops self confidence. In addition, the rescue pup receives individualized attention and love from their foster family.

We need your help! We are still looking for silent auction items! We have some great donations so far, but we still need a lot more! Please contact Karen Bell or Robin Reed to discuss, if you’d like to help us out.
