Hello Parrot Heads, and Happy Star Wars Day!
There are no official club events this weekend, but there is no lack of fun things to do. Tomorrow is Cinco de Derby… Kentucky de Mayo… or whatever you want to call it! It’s Cinco de Mayo all day, so you have an excuse to enjoy cervezas and margaritas. Plus it’s the Kentucky Derby, so bring on the Mint Juleps and fancy hats. It’s going to be a wild day! There are so many reasons to celebrate, that I’m sure you will all have a fun weekend.
Here is the CPHC news for this week:
Buffett & the Eagles Pre-Show Event Updates
I mentioned previously that we have some bars working on pre-Eagles show events. Well, now I have some info for you! Pete Grosskreuz has been busy at work setting up some fun pre-show events at Sports Column near the stadium. Below are the details, so you can ask for the day off work and start making plans!
Parrot Head Concert-Eve Party at Sports Column
Wednesday, June 27 starting at 6:00 pm
Sports Column, 1930 Blake St, Denver
Come spend the night before the concert with your Colorado Parrot Head friends and with Parrot Heads from out of town! Thom Shepherd and Coley McCabe are scheduled to perform, and admission is $10 (for the band.) Food and drinks are not included but Sports Column will have plenty of both, so come down for dinner, drinks, and a fun night with some great music!
Pre-Concert “Tailgate” Party at Sports Column
Thursday, June 28 from 11 am until showtime
Sports Column, 1930 Blake St, Denver
Join the party at Sports Column in LoDo again on the day of the Eagles/Buffett show concert. The party will be up on the rooftop, where you can enjoy the sunshine and the downtown views. Thom and Coley are scheduled to perform in the afternoon, and there will be a full menu of food and drink for purchase to enjoy while you fuel up for the show. Admission for this pre-show event is $20 (again to pay the musicians) and while it doesn’t include your food or drink, for a full day of music and fun it’s worth it.
Other Pre-Concert Options
I know some of you may not be able to spend the day downtown (stupid jobs!) or you may be looking for some options without a cover charge, so stay tuned. We have been working with another bar downtown about some pre-show food and drink specials for Parrot Heads on the day of the Eagles/Buffett show. They are also just a quick walk from Coors Field and had reached out to offer some great specials, like a Burger & Landshark deal, and other fun stuff. I’m confirming with them now that they’re still on board, so details will come once I confirm.
Who’s Going to Kenny Chesney?
Kenny Chesney is performing at Mile High Stadium on Saturday, June 30. We know that there are a few CPHC folks are going to the show… will you be there too? If so, several of us Parrot Heads plan on partying in Parking Log G if you want to hang out for the pre-show party. Obviously, the Kenny crowd knows how to tailgate, so no matter where you start your pre-show party, you’ll be having a good time!
Reminder: PWAP Raffle/Auction Items Needed
I know I’m starting to sound like a broken record, but the annual Party With a Purpose benefiting TLC Meals on Wheels is happening Saturday, July 21 and we are still on the lookout for items for the raffle and silent auction. We know that each of you probably knows of someone who has a business, offers a service, or can otherwise help us come up with some fun items to donate to this cause. No item is too small so don’t think you have to have something big to help out! We can accept any sort of new items, tickets to events, as well as gift certificates for dining, services, experiences, etc. Be creative, and I’m sure you know someone who may want to help the cause AND get some exposure for their business! Best of all, donations of items accepted by us for TLC Meals on Wheels are tax-deductible, and we can provide paperwork. Talk to your friends, your family, your neighbors and please see if you can help us get stuff so we can raise lots of money for this event. Please reach out to Lee or Robin Grodsky for more info on how to help, or email us at and we can help.
That’s all the news for this week. Have a fun weekend!
Fins Up!
Jeff
