It’s almost parade day!

Despite the scary cold snap we had this weekend, it looks like this weekend will be perfect weather for the Broadway Halloween Parade! We hope you’re ready to stumble your way down Broadway and give out candy as the Colorado Parrot Head Club participates in the 2nd Annual Broadway Halloween Parade. It’s sure to be a PHUN time!

As a reminder, because we are participating in the parade there will be no regular club meeting this month. Join us for the parade instead!

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Join CPHC in the 2nd Annual Broadway Halloween Parade
The Colorado Parrot Head Club is once again participating in the Broadway Halloween Parade. Last year was such a fun time that everyone wanted to do it again! If you missed out last time, you really need to join the parade this year. It’s a great time!

CPHC Halloween Parade Theme
As I mentioned last week, the Parrot Heads are hoping you will PARTY LIKE A DEAD ROCK STAR at this year’s parade. hat’s right, get in touch with your inner rock star… we know you’ve got in in you! Dress like your favorite former rocker can channel Elvis, Jim, Janis, Jimi, Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse… there are a lot of great former rockers to choose from. Or you can just create a whole new rocker ghoul or zombified musician persona. It’s Halloween… there are no limits to what you can create for your costume, so feel free to be creative! Get in the spirit and have fun!

Float Finishing & Painting – Friday & Saturday
Pete is once again designing the parade float, and again this year John Krieger has donated his trailer. Pete and John have already built some of the structure but they need help with finishing details, painting and decorating. If you want to help join them at Pete’s place after 3 PM on Friday, October 19, or around noon on parade day, Saturday, October 20.

NEW! Parade Pre-Party & Beer Saturday at Dixie’s
This is a booze-free parade, so there will be no alcohol at the staging area or on the parade route. Instead, join the pre-party Beer Saturday at Dixie’s house (see your emailed newsletter for the full address) anytime after 2 PM on Saturday. BYO drink of choice, and pre-party with the CPHC krewe before you head over to the parade staging area!

Parade Parking & Staging
We start lining up for the parade around 5:30 PM, so plan on being at the staging area by 4:30 PM. Staging will be at Denver Health’s Rita Bass Parking Lot at 5th & Bannock (190 W 6th Ave, Denver). You cannot park at this location… the only vehicles allowed in staging are those that will be in the parade. Participants should park in the parking lot of the former Kmart store at West Alameda Ave & Bannock Street (145 W Alameda Ave, Denver, CO 80223). There will be a shuttle to take you from the parking lot to the staging area, and the parade route ends at this same lot. The shuttle bus will make loops from the parking lot to the staging area beginning at 3:30 PM.

What to Bring
It’s a Halloween parade so, of course, we need a lot of candy. Please bring some bags of candy so that there are plenty of treats to give out to kids (of all ages) on the parade route. We also need spiders! Yes, we need plastic spiders for the cobwebs that are going on the float – and so far the stores that Pete and Robin have been to have been fresh out of these creepy crawlies. If you can pick up some plastic spiders to bring on Friday during the build/decorating, it would be very much appreciated!

What NOT to Bring
This is a family event, and as such, there is absolutely no alcohol allowed in the staging area or the parade route. This parade is all about the “Boos” and not the “Booze” so enjoy your Halloween spirits before the parade at Dixie’s Beer Saturday. I’m sure there will be a gathering/celebration after the parade too, so just check with Pete on parade day and he can let you know if there are any post-party plans! Maybe it will be back at Dixie’s place… who knows!

Last Minute Parade News & Parade Day Contact Info
I’ll send another newsletter blast out on Friday in case there are any last-minute items you need to know about the parade. However sadly, I won’t be in attendance this year. Chris and I will be attending the Buffett show in Vegas on Saturday, so we’ll be with you in spirit… and you’ll be in good hands with Pete leading the krewe on parade day. If you need to call or text Pete on parade day, see your emailed newsletter for his cell #.

If you have any questions before parade day, please contact us.

IN OTHER NEWS

Viva Las Vegas!
For those of you heading to Vegas to see Jimmy this Saturday, look for Chris and I at the show! We were a bit nervous we weren’t going to make it due to some work obligations, but we’ll be there and can’t wait to party with you at the concert! Unfortunately, we get there pretty last minute so you probably won’t see us at the pre-parties. Be sure to have extra fun for us until showtime! Just remember, whatever happens there, stays there!

That’s all the news for now. Stay tuned for a final parade update on Friday, and please have LOTS of fun at the parade!! Show them what it means to party like a Parrot Head!

Fins up!
