Happy Thursday everyone, and happy first day of December! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! We don’t have any club events this weekend, but there is a Santa Claus Pub Crawl tomorrow. If anyone out there is going, look for me. I’ll be the one in the red suit!
I don’t have a ton of news to share, but I do have some previews of things to come today, so that’s something. Here’s what’s going on:
Thank YOU!
Since I took the day off from the newsletter last weekend for the holiday, I didn’t get a chance to thank all of you for stepping up and donating tons of coats and cold-weather gear for the Denver Rescue Mission. It is not an exaggeration to say that I could barely fit all the donations in our SUV, we had so many! I know that all those coats, gloves, scarves and socks will go to good use. Thanks for being so generous, as always.
December’s Meeting Collections
This month we’re going to ask you to keep that giving spirit alive as we collect for several different charities. At our December meeting on Saturday, 12/17 we will be collecting toys for Toys For Tots, as well as canned or non-perishable foods for TLC Meals on Wheels. Both charities have a huge need this month, so please try and bring a toy and some food to help those less fortunate.
Bring a wrapped gift for December’s raffle! Don’t forget that this is the month we also do a gift-wrapped raffle! In honor of Jimmy Buffett’s birthday (which happens to be on Christmas, as if you didn’t already know!) we are once again raffling off your donated gifts! Bring a wrapped gift to donate to our raffle, and in return you’ll receive an extra raffle ticket! Additional tickets are the same as usual, $1/ea or 6 for $5. However this month when we draw your number you’ll get to pick a wrapped gift as your prize! If you’re not sure what to bring, bottles of booze are always popular choices, as are other fun presents that you think your fellow Parrot Heads would enjoy.
So in summary, add a toy, some non-perishable food, and a wrapped mystery gift to your shopping list! And bring them all to our December meeting!
SafeHouse Denver Family Gifts
If you’re not sick of giving yet, we are also sponsoring a family from SafeHouse Denver again this year. We don’t have the family details yet, but we are already looking for volunteers to help with the shopping. If you’d like to help out, let me know and as soon as we get more details I’ll reach out to you.
Our 2nd Order of Red Rocks Shirts are Here!
If you ordered a Red Rocks shirt from me after the concert, the shirts have arrived. Chris and I will set up a Happy Hour for next week sometime for those of you local folks who wanted to pick them up. Once we get our schedule worked out I’ll send out an email with the details so stay tuned. If you requested and paid to have your shirt mailed, they should be with the post office as soon as I can finish getting them packed up, which should be by this weekend.
That’s it for me. Have a wonderful weekend!
Fins up!
