TGIF Parrot Heads!

I hope you all had a great week and are ready for the weekend. This weekend we’ll be working on our float again, so hopefully, you can stop by and help out. All the details about the build are available below, plus some fun NEW news that has nothing to do with the parade! So, let’s get to it:

Float Building This Weekend

We made great progress on our float last weekend! I send my personal thanks to each of you who came out to help! If you saw our progress on Facebook, we build a lot of walls.. this weekend we’ll work on putting those walls up, getting everything painted and decorated, and hopefully, mostly ready for the parade! We can still use plenty of help to build and paint, or just provide moral support. Please come out and join us!

Build Days & Times:
This weekend we’ll be working on the float on Saturday, March 10, beginning at 9 AM, as well as Sunday, March 4, beginning at 10 AM. We’re starting an hour later on Sunday because Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday, so you’re not really getting an extra hour of sleep (sorry!) We will probably wrap up around 4 PM each day.

Build Location:
We are building at Pete G’s home (address in your emailed newsletter). We build in Pete’s backyard so you can park at Jordan’s and enter through the back gate to the yard. We’ll put a sign up so you know where to go if this will be your first visit.

Super Quick Reminders About The Build:
Pete is letting us use his yard, but we don’t get full access of his home, his tool sheds, his building supplies, etc. Before you use anything make sure it belongs to CPHC. There is a porta-potty for use when nature calls. Also, be careful when painting not to get any paint on Pete’s property. We like building here and would appreciate it if Pete invites us back next year.

What To Bring:

  • Comfortable work clothes and shoes that can get dirty
  • Work gloves, and any tools you may want to use
  • BYO beverage of choice and snacks for yourself and/or to share
  • A folding chair, because there will be down time
  • ALSO: Bring any peanut butter, non-perishable food donations, or pop-tops that you would normally bring to the March meeting — Mike will have bins on site to pick it all up.

We Need a Parrot Volunteer!
Once again this year we’re putting out the call for someone interested in wearing our Parrot mascot costume! It’s not the most glamorous job, but it will allow you to skip worrying about what to wear. Plus you get to ride the float and wave to the crowd – so you’ll be sort of famous! Interested? Email me for details or to sign up, or talk to Chris or me at the build. First come first serve!

Other Volunteers Needed for Parade Day
We will need volunteers for the following on parade day. Let me know if you want to pitch in to check IDs, refill candy for our walkers, or just get us ready to roll on parade day!

Got Wristbands?
Adults will need a wristband if you plan on walking in the parade with us, and especially if you plan on enjoying drinks with us before and after the parade. If you haven’t gotten yours yet, you’re running out of time. Come get wristbands at the build site this weekend, or next Friday. Please make sure you have your wristbands before parade day.

What else do you want to know?
If you have questions, please email me. If you’re wondering, someone else probably is too, so let me know.

Parade Day Email Coming Monday, 3/12

The Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on St. Patrick’s Day, Saturday, March 17.

As for all the other need-to-know specifics, watch for an email all about the parade to land in your inbox the afternoon of Monday, March 12. We will include the parade rules, where to meet, what time to meet, etc. This is an email you will want to look for so that you’re prepared for the parade.

Save The Date: Margaritaville Night at the Colorado Rockies

The Colorado Rockies are hosting Margaritaville Night on Saturday, June 9 at Coors Field. They have designed a custom Rockies/Margaritaville t-shirt that will be given out as a gift with purchase of a ticket package, and will be featuring a pre-game concert!

Mike Arthurs has generously stepped up to be our CPHC contact for this event, so please let Mike know if you may be interested in attending. We will get back to everyone with the ticket details once we get that info from the team at the Rockies organization. You can email Mike directly to let him know you are interested; see the emailed version of your newsletter for his email address.

Additionally, they are still looking for band recommendations for this event. If you know a great band (cover band, trop rock band, etc.) please send Mike their contact details and we will pass this along to the Rockies folks for consideration.

We need YOU for the PWAP!

Don’t forget – tickets are now on sale for the 6th Annual Party With a Purpose, happening on July 21, 2018. The event features Thom Shepherd, Coley McCabe Shepherd and Donny Brewer. Tickets are $25 and available from Lee Grodsky until they sell out. Look for Lee at our CPHC events and meetings, and get your tickets while you can.

We need your help now to make this party a success.
Most of the money made at this event is from the silent auction and raffle. Each year we have amazing prizes including gift baskets from local businesses, gift certificates, and lots of tickets to great events, theme parks, sporting events and even airline tickets!

We really need your help this year. I know some of you own businesses or work for companies who may want to pitch in to help out this cause. I am sure many of you are friends with people who run businesses or have connections. If each of you reading this could reach out to just one person to see if they can donate something to help with our benefit – be it a gift item, gift card, free service, etc., that would be more than enough to make this the best event yet. Donations made to this party for TLC Meals on Wheels are tax-deductible, and we have 501c3 letters we can provide, just reach out to me (or Lee) for one if you think you can help out. We appreciate anything you can do to help!!

That’s all for now. I hope to see you at the float build this weekend.

Cheers!
Jeff
