CPHC Newsletter

Hello and Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s another COLD one today! Stay warm, my phriends! I don’t know about you, but I am tired of shoveling snow this week! Come on Spring!!

Remember to pay your annual dues! We haven’t had many pay and join again so far this year. Remember, you need to be a member to participate in the parade and some of the other activities we have planned this year. Details below.

February Events

Fundraiser at Someplace Else was a huge success!!

The CPHC was well represented at the fundraiser for Mark last weekend. Our members, along with all the other ‘regular folk’ who turned out to support the family, had a wonderful time and we raised over $3300 to help him and his family toward their medical expenses. It was an emotional event at times, but overall was a lot of fun! Thanks to our Parrot Head Phlock who were there.. we showed the rest of the people at the Brewery what an awesome group we are!

February Club Meeting – THIS SATURDAY!!

Saturday, February 15, 2020 – 6pm
Hoppers Sports Bar, Wheat Ridge

Our charity this month is one of our favorites.. My Fairy Dawg Mother. The director of the organization will be on hand to tell us about their rescue. The Colorado Parrot Head club has really made a difference for this dog rescue in the past, and we’d love to keep helping them!

As always, please bring a raffle prize or 2 to help us out. See you Saturday!

I wanted to give a special “shout out” to Hannah and the crew at Hoppers. They have done a great job the last couple of months serving food and drinks to all of us. Next time you are in Hoppers, be sure to thank them for all their hard work during our meetings!

Want to host a house concert?

If anyone is interested in hosting a house party, “The Sauce Boss” will be going through Colorado and wants to do a house concert with our group. Right now, it looks like the best dates would be Wednesday June 3 (preferred) or Thursday, June 4. If you’d like to schedule him, please contact them directly by email (see the newsletter in your email for their contact info)

Bill “Sauce Boss” Wharton has brought his swamp-funk, slide guitar-one-man band, and a pot of gumbo all across the US and to Canada, Europe, and Asia. Sauce Boss cooks gumbo while performing; serving up bowls to the audience at the end of the shows. He has served well over 200,000 people for free at his legendary live shows. Sauce Boss is the guy Jimmy Buffett sings about in “I Will Play for Gumbo”. Wharton’s blues anthem, “Let the Big Dog Eat”, has been covered by many, including Albert Castiglia. His version was #1 on the Roots Music Report for twelve weeks. The tune was also in Jonathan Demme’s movie “Something Wild”. Now, Bill’s music will be featured throughout the soundtrack in the documentary, “Jimmy Carter – Rock and Roll President”, debuting early in 2020.

Jimmy Buffett Concert Announcements

There have been quite a few Buffett Concert Announcements. If there are tickets you are interested in for a show, please let me know and I will contact the appropriate Parrot Head Club for that area, and see if I can get tickets for you through that club.

Remember, a request for tickets is a commitment to pay for said tickets.

Club T-shirts!!

We still have plenty of t-shirts for our 25th Anniversary!!! We have quite an assortment of colors (Pink, as shown below, Black, Butter Yellow, Caribbean Blue, Steel Gray, Periwinkle, Salmon and Sea Foam Green). We have a wide variety of sizes, and both men’s and lady’s cut shirts (lady’s cut are only available in pink). The one shown below is a lady’s cut, with both front and back pictured.

The front has the original Parrot Head logo on it, and the back has a picture on it provided by Dixie LaHood. The pictures here don’t do it justice. They are awesome!! We’ll have them at all the meetings. If you can’t attend a meeting and would like one… please contact Robin or Pete to arrange getting your cool new club shirt! The cost is $30 each. (if you can’t make it to a meeting to pick one up, drop a check in the mail to us and please add $5 per shirt for shipping.)

The t-shirts are stored at Pete’s house, so give Pete a call if you want to stop by and pick up a shirt or 2, plus we will have them at all the club meetings.

Jeff Dunham is coming to the 1ST BANK Center (Broomfield Events Center) on April 4.

Several in our group are interested in going, so we checked into group tickets. They don’t really have a group ticket sales up there, and we were not able to get a large group of tickets, but we did manage to get a few. We have a very limited number, so we will sell them on a first come first serve basis. The cost is $75 each. Sorry we can’t accommodate everyone, but there are still tickets for sale, so if you’d like to go, and can’t fit into our limited number, please buy some tickets online. It will be a very fun night. “Jeffafa” is a SUPER funny!

Contact Robin if you’d like to buy tickets. (by replying to this email)
