St. Patrick’s Day Float Build  Information!

We wanted to clarify a couple of things about our float build days.  Duffy’s will be delivering the trailer to Pete’s house on Monday, March 4.  The Channel 2 “Great Day Colorado” crew will be there on Tuesday, March 5, at noon. If you can, please go to Pete’s house on Tuesday, around 9am, so we can get some things up on the float to make it look like we have already been working on it. This is not an actual build day, so you won’t need to wear old clothes. It will be a “pretend build day” for the cameras.  We may get some paint out, to make it look like we are doing something in the background, but we’ll figure that out on Tuesday morning.

The “Good Day Colorado” team wants to feature our float in the parade and feature our club and our charity work on their show. They will be talking to Pete about our  float, the Jimmy Buffett Tribute, our Party With a Purpose, and the charities we have supported in the past, as well the charity we will be supporting at this year’s  PWAP.   As they are talking to Pete, they will be filming the people working on the float in the background.

The “Great Day Colorado” show, being filmed at the “pretend float build,” will air on March 15th.  It will be their St. Patrick’s Day Special, and they will tell the viewers if they want to see the final Parrothead  float, go to the parade!

The REAL Float Build Days:

Float Build Weekend: Saturday March 9 and Sunday March 10.  We’ll reuse the buildings from last year, and paint/decorate them to look like Jimmy’s favorite hangouts in Key West.

Please join us to help build the float at Pete’s house (if you don’t know where that is, reply to this newsletter or send Pete a text):
Saturday, March 9 – 9am
Sunday, March 10 – 9am

Please bring your own drinks; snacks to share; sunscreen; a chair for break time; and remember to wear old clothes to paint in!

Denver St Patrick’s Day Parade:

When: Saturday, March 16, 2024
Step-off will be 9:30am – we’ll start meeting at the float about 7:30am in the Parking Lot of Coors Field. More details will follow.

As always, you must be a member to walk with us in the parade. We will hand out 2 wristbands for a single membership and 4 wristbands for a family membership. You can pick up your wrist bands at the float build days or the morning of the parade. If you plan on picking up your wristbands the morning of the parade, please get there early, that way it won’t add to the stress of all the last minute things that come up on parade morning.

In case you haven’t heard, The parade theme this year is “We Are One” or “Mar a Cheile sinn” – at the heart of St. Patrick’s Day is unity and inclusion.  We’ll do our best to include that along with a tribute to Jimmy Buffett!! Duffy’s Crane Service will be providing the 53′ trailer again. We will have our friends, the “Groove Time Sitters” playing live on the float, and the buildings on the float will be some of Jimmy’s favorite hangouts in Key West.    We will have bubble machines on the float.  Bubble’s Up!  We’ll be passing out bubbles to the kiddos and leis to the adults, in honor of Jimmy.

Please help us out by purchasing small containers of bubbles that we can hand out to the kids.

We DO NOT need leis, we have plenty. Judi Fulton made tags for the leis with our Club info on them and put the tags on over 2000 leis!!  Now everyone who gets a lei will have our club information and will know who the Colorado Parrotheads are!

Amazon or The Oriental Trading Company are great places to get bubbles in bulk.  We will have ‘disguised’ containers on the float to hold the containers of bubbles so you won’t have to carry heavy bags of bubbles, and you can restock as needed.
Get your BEST Parrothead attire ready for our parade so we can show the people of Denver a great tribute to our Captain!!

Don’t forget, Channel 2 will be featuring our club and our float on their broadcast of the parade, so wear your BEST Parrothead attire!

Watch for more info in newsletters as we get closer.

We need sponsors for our float.  If you have a business, and would like to donate some money toward our float, we will hang your company banner on the float to advertise your business.  We will also add your business info to our newsletter.
Talk to Pete for details!
