Hello and Happy January!

January Events

In case you missed out, the House Concert with Thom Shepherd and Coley McCabe has been cancelled. We hope to have them at a house concert for us later in the summer. Stay tuned…

January Club Meeting – THIS WEEKEND

Saturday, January 18, 2020 – 6pm
Hoppers Sports Bar, Wheat Ridge

The charity this month is Save a Gato, of Puerto Rico. Several of our club members are going on a cruise next week, and that cruise leaves out of Puerto Rico, so they will be able to deliver the money directly to Save a Gato. Puerto Rico has had a lot of earth quakes lately, and they have a huge need for help with stray and homeless cats.

Save A Gato (SAG) was created in 2004 to address the booming cat population around historic Old San Juan, particularly around the Paseo del Morro pathway. SAG is the only non-profit organization that has an agreement with The National Park Service to manage a colony of cats on national park land. (A BIG thanks to the NPS!). Trap, neuter and return (TNR) has worked wonderfully to reduce the size of the cat colony around El Morro by 50% since 2004.

Save A Gato (SAG) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare and care of the cats of Old San Juan through TNR, fostering, and adoption. Save A Gato manages the colony of cats on the Paseo del Morro and the rest of Old San Juan.

2020 Pete’s Summer Concert Series

Word got out in the Trop Rock Musician world, that the Colorado Parrot Head Club threw a kick ass concert/Party with a Purpose this year, so we have had several musicians contact us, asking if they can do house concerts for us. We have some amazing acts lined up! Some of these folks NEVER do house concerts but they heard what a great group we have so they want to do a show for us!

Save the Dates!!!

July 3 – The Landsharks!

Where – Pete’s House – 6pm – 9pm.
Admission is $40 per person – with all proceeds going to the musicians. (This is a great price for a 5 piece band and legends.. the Landsharks!!)
This will be a pot luck, so bring a dish to share
Bring your own beverage of choice
Bring your own chair.

July 25- Party with a Purpose! (note the new date)

About 10 minutes after I sent the last newsletter, everything changed. So now the concert will be on July 25, with Mike Nash and the Southern Drawl Band. We are still working with 2 other artists to secure them for that date. So far, we have had verbal a ‘yes’ from both of them. I think you will all be very happy to hear who we have coming, and hopefully I will be able to include their names in the next newsletter. I think the lineup will be fantastic, and it’s looking like it will be another amazing day!

We will have the link up soon to be able to buy tickets. The tickets will be $55 each if you pay on the PayPal link. The event is $50 but we have to cover the service charges of PayPal. So, if you buy from the website, the cost will be $55. If you send us a check or pay cash at the meetings, the cost will be $50 each ticket.

Start getting those gift baskets and silent auction items ready!

Club T-shirts!!

We still have plenty of t-shirts for our 25th Anniversary!!! We have quite an assortment of colors (Pink, as shown below, Black, Butter Yellow, Caribbean Blue, Steel Gray, Periwinkle, Salmon and Sea Foam Green). We have a wide variety of sizes, and both men’s and lady’s cut shirts (lady’s cut are only available in pink). The one shown below is a lady’s cut, with both front and back pictured.

The front has the original Parrot Head logo on it, and the back has a picture on it provided by Dixie LaHood. The pictures here don’t do it justice. They are awesome!! We’ll have them at all the meetings. If you can’t attend a meeting and would like one… please contact Robin or Pete to arrange getting your cool new club shirt! The cost is $30 each. (if you can’t make it to a meeting to pick one up, drop a check in the mail to us and please add $5 per shirt for shipping.)

The t-shirts are stored at Pete’s house, so give Pete a call if you want to stop by and pick up a shirt or 2, plus we will have them at all the club meetings.

Misc. Events

Jeff Dunham is coming to the 1ST BANK Center (Broomfield Events Center) on April 4.

Several in our group are interested in going, so we checked into group tickets. They don’t really have a group ticket sales up there, and we were not able to get a large group of tickets, but we did manage to get a few. We have a very limited number, so we will sell them on a first come first serve basis. The cost is $75 each. Sorry we can’t accommodate everyone, but there are still tickets for sale, so if you’d like to go, and can’t fit into our limited number, please buy some tickets online. It will be a very fun night. “Jeffafa” is a SUPER funny!

Contact Robin if you’d like to buy tickets. (by replying to this email)
