HAPPY JULY!!

Thank you to everyone who went to the June Meeting!  We had a wonderful time!  Thank you, also, to all of those who donated items for our raffle. It was a big success!  We raised $400 for Robin’s favorite charity, the Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies (a.k.a. GRRR)!! Thank you!!

I’d like to extend a special thank you to Karen and Gary Bell. They have helped a LOT at the meetings, and weekly Parrothead club business.  Karen was instrumental in selling tickets to both the PWAP and to the Landsharks at the meeting!  Gary and Karen help sell raffle tickets, bring  a lot of raffle items and in general make my job easier at the meetings. We couldn’t do this without them.  Thank you!!

Please contact Karen or Robin if you have something you’d like to donate for us.

This year, I am excited to announce our charities, one of them we’ve had in the Past and that is My Fairy Dawg Mother.  You are all probably familiar with them.  They are a non-profit, foster based dog rescue.  They have greatly appreciated our help in the past, so let’s help them again this year!!

Our second charity is a new one for us.  It is called “Over the Edge,” run by our own CPHC member Dick Fulton, Executive Director of PVA CA chapter. This event raises funds for paralyzed veterans to enjoy adaptive sports, learn a new trade, travel, and earn educational scholarship.

Paralyzed Veterans of America, a congressionally chartered veterans service organization founded in 1946, has developed a unique expertise on a wide variety of issues involving the special needs of their members – veterans of the armed forces,  who have experienced spinal cord injury or dysfunction. PVA will use that expertise to be the leading advocate for: Quality health care for their members, Research and education addressing spinal cord injury and dysfunction, Benefits available as a result of their members’ military service, Civil rights and opportunities that maximize the independence of their members. To enable Paralyzed Veterans to continue to honor this commitment, they recruit and retain members who have the experience, energy, dedication, and passion necessary to manage the organization and ensure adequate resources to sustain the programs essential for Paralyzed Veterans of America to achieve its mission.
