Hello Parrot Heads. Happy Memorial Day! Stay safe, enjoy your long weekend and most importantly, let’s all take a minute to honor those who gave their lives for this great country of ours.

Some interesting facts about Memorial Day:

Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season.
The Civil War, which ended in the spring of 1865, claimed more lives than any conflict in U.S. history and required the establishment of the country’s first national cemeteries.
By the late 1860s, Americans in various towns and cities had begun holding springtime tributes to these countless fallen soldiers, decorating their graves with flowers and reciting prayers.

During World War I, the United States found itself embroiled in another major conflict, and the holiday evolved to commemorate American military personnel who died in all wars, including World War I, World War II, The Vietnam War, The Korean War and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Did you know? Each year on Memorial Day a national moment of remembrance takes place at 3:00 p.m. local time.
“In Flanders Fields” by John McCrae
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

“Quarantine Concerts Worldwide” (Facebook Page) is still going strong. Watch for some of our favorite Trop Rock artists performing. I’ve seen some really good live music on this! If you have a chance, watch some of the shows!

Jimmy Buffett has also started his “Cabin Fever Tour.”
Starting Wednesday, March 25, every Wednesday and Saturday at 8 p.m. ET and PT, Buffett hosted shows from his live archives via margaritaville.tv and on Radio Margaritaville on SiriusXM. I don’t have the whole schedule, but watch the Facebook page called “BuffettNews – Jimmy Buffett.” The shows will be posted there.

As of now, Jimmy Buffett is still performing at Red Rocks in September. He has rescheduled other shows in June and July, but so far, we are still on for September 8 and 10, 2020.

As you all know, this is a fluid situation and things are changing rapidly. We don’t know what will happen next, but we do know this…

All 3 Texas shows were cancelled and could not be rescheduled. For the canceled shows tickets will be refunded and no CDs will be sent.

For the rescheduled shows, tickets will automatically be valid for the new date, unless you opt for a refund within 30 days of the new show date being announced. Your local ticket coordinator will be in contact with the LiveNation rep (Not me!).

As of today, there is no NEW information. Hope this helps a bit…we all miss going to the live Jimmy Buffett concerts…but he will be back soon!

REMEMBER: A commitment to buy tickets means you are responsible to pay for them. If you haven’t already done so, please mail your checks: (The tickets are $165.50 EACH) Please make check payable to Colorado Parrot Head Club

Free CDs for those who bought a ticket to the show!!
NOTE: Each ticket purchased gets a free CD. Mailboat Records was supposed to ship the CDs this week.. so let’s hope that happened and we all get some new Buffett music SOON!..

Note: If you’ve changed addresses/moved in the past few years, please send me a note so I can make sure the roster is updated. I gave them the information I had. but I may not have current addresses for people. I did NOT have time to verify the information before the list was due. if you have moved, let me know ASAP and I may be able to get the change in before they mail the CDs.

PLEASE NOTE: MOTM HAS BEEN POSTPONNED

Note From Andrew Talbert:

Hello Everyone:
The last few months have been challenging causing schools and businesses to be closed, concerts to be cancelled, and sporting events to be postponed. After working closely with our business partners, sponsors, and the Casa Marina we have decided to postpone PHIP’s Annual Meeting of the Minds 2020.
We have done this out of a great abundance of caution for our members, performers, and all the volunteers that make this event so amazing. This decision was not easy but we felt it was necessary. There is currently too much uncertainty surrounding precautions that will be needed in the future and the possible resurfacing of the Covid-19 virus that might happen later this year.
As the window to cancel the event was closing, making the decision now will allow Parrot Heads in Paradise and PHiP’s Meeting of the Minds to flourish in the future. Also, it will allow you to cancel any travel plans you have already made.
You will receive a refund of your registration for the event by July 31, 2020. Please bear in mind it will take some time to process all of the refunds and get them to you.
You can rest assured that we will do everything possible to make next year a celebration to remember. We appreciate your understanding and trust that we are doing what is in the best interest of everyone involved.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: How do I get a registration refund?
A: There is nothing for you to do. This will be an automatic process and is only limited by the time required to process all of the payments back to those who are currently registered.

Q: How long will it take me to receive a refund?
A: Depending on volume you should receive your refund prior to July 31, 2020

Q. How will my refund be issued?
A. Every attempt will be made to refund your registration in the same manner you paid. Due to restrictions by our service provided, we are only able to go back 120 days to issue an electronic refund. If we are unable to issue an electronic refund, you will receive a check via U.S. mail. If you paid by check, you will receive your refund by check.

Q. Can I keep my reservation at the Casa Marina for 2021?
A. No, all reservations for PHiP’s MOTM 2020 booked using our group booking code will be canceled and refunded.

Q: Do I have to contact the Casa Marina for a refund?
A: No, the Casa Marina will contact you as soon as possible via email. Given the Casa is still closed with a minimal staff in-house the hotel refunds could take up to 30 days to be returned to you so please be patient with the process given the situation.

Q: What are the dates for next year’s event?
A: Thursday, November 4, 2021 through Saturday, November 6, 2021

Q: When will I be able to book a room at the Casa for PHiP’s MOTM 2021?
A: Booking for the 2021 event cannot start until the normal timing which is typically at the end of the calendar year. The hotel booking for 2021 will be announced via email and social media at that time.

Stay safe PHriends!
