CPHC Weekly News
Happy Thursday, Parrot Heads! Are you ready for some phun this weekend? I hope so! I want to see you ALL at Hopper’s this Saturday for our club meeting. I know I can’t wait! I hope to see you there.
Here’s what we have going on this week….
Club Meeting This Saturday
As I just mentioned, please plan on joining us this Saturday, June 17, for our monthly club meeting. Join us for some drinks, food, music and hanging out with your Parrot Head friends. The phun starts at 6 p.m. at Hopper’s Sports Grill (10051 N I-70 Service Road, Wheat Ridge). Remember, you do not have to be a member to join the party, so if you’ve been wanting to check us out, please come!
Also, if you haven’t already purchased your Party With A Purpose tickets, you will want to get them at this month’s meeting. Time (and tickets) for this August 19th party are running out! Don’t miss out on John Frinzi and Aaron Scherz. Get your tickets ASAP!
Changes to our Monthly Raffle
Our Charity for June is the Melanoma Research Foundation!
This month we’re doing something totally new with the monthly club raffle. Robin Reed and Pete Grosskreuz reached out to us about raising some funds for a cause near and dear to them, the Melanoma Research Foundation. Together with a few other Parrot Heads they are participating in the 2017 Miles for Melanoma 5K. This is a cause that all of us sun worshiping, beach loving Parrot Heads should fully support! So when Robin reached out, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to test out an idea Chris and I have been kicking around…
Our idea: You see, running the monthly raffle is a lot of fun. You get to buy fun “crap” each month, and selling tickets is a great way to meet all your fellow Parrot Heads. However doing it each & ever month can be a lot of work, and can get old quick. That’s why we’re excited to announce that a few times a year, we are going to give our active and participating CPHC members a chance to sponsor a monthly raffle!
How raffle sponsorship works: During the months when we do not have a CPHC identified charity in place for the raffle, we will ask for volunteers to sponsor a monthly raffle. To sign up you just need a team of 2 or more members, and you must fully commit to being at the meeting, and fulfilling the responsibilities of the raffle (below). We’ll also need to know what charity you want to support, so we can review/approve the charity before the meeting.
What do raffle sponsors have to do? By sponsoring the raffle you’ll be doing some of the work to coordinate the raffle for the month, before and during the meeting. You’ll get a small budget to buy a few (4-5) raffle prizes that you’ll bring to the meeting. You can also get donated items, if you prefer. We’ll supplement whatever prizes you bring with items from our CPHC raffle stash. At the meeting you’ll set up the prize table. Then we’ll give you the gear (tickets & bucket) and some basic instructions, and you’ll go out there & sell the raffle tickets! This will give you an opportunity to let members know about your charity, so you can really make them dig deep to contribute to the cause!
Will I have to get on stage and read numbers? No, we won’t make you do that, unless you want to. If one person from your team wants to join Jeff for the raffle, you certainly can. Otherwise, we’ll take care of that part. We know several of you pretend to be shy.
What charities are eligible to receive the donation? CPHC tries to give back to a variety of charitable organizations in a variety of categories including animals, health, environment, education, arts & culture, etc. If you aren’t sure who you want to give to, we can help you find a great cause. We reserve the right to approve the charity, and if it doesn’t seem to be a fit for our group for any reason, we may ask you to select another one. (Don’t take it personally, we have a large group and don’t want to rock the boat with anything that’s political or could otherwise be seen as controversial.) The funds raised during the raffle will be paid by CPHC directly to your charity via check or online donation after the meeting.
Support Robin & Pete as they run the raffle this month!
You know with them buying the prizes, there are sure to be some good stuff in there! Bring lots of cash and support this awesome cause. If you can’t make it to the meeting but want to support the cause, you can donate to their team, Becky’s Buddies. Support your fellow Parrot Heads with a donation!
If you are interested in sponsoring a future raffle, talk to Chris at the meeting. You can also email her at You have not entered an email address for this shortcode. to get info on the next opportunity to run our raffle.
That’s all the news for today. We hope to see you Saturday!
Fins Up!
Jeff
