CPHC Weekly News
Oh the weather outside is frightful…
Actually, it’s not that bad. But still, snow is finally arriving for most of us today! I guess our unseasonably warm weather is finally coming to an end. Time to trade in your flip flops for some closed-toed shoes!
In other news, here’s what we have going on this week in CPHC news:
Club Meeting This Saturday!
Saturday, November 19 we will be meet at Hopper’s Sports Grill for our monthly club meeting. In case you missed the annoucement on Facebook, this month you can leave your canned foods and peanut butter at home. Instead, we will be collecting winter necessities for the Denver Rescue Mission. Please bring your gently-used coats and gloves, or pick up a bag (or two) of new socks – as these are items most needed this time of the year. The meeting starts at 6pm, so join us for some drinks, music, and fun. Bring some extra cash for raffle, and don’t forget those coats!
Call for Bottle Caps: Also, as you may have seen on Facebook, we are collecting bottle caps this month for fellow Parrot Head Kristie Bobal. Kristie is a friend of the phlock, a frequent attendee of MOTM, and she makes artwork out of bottle caps. Kristie has been ill and couldn’t attend MOTM this year. To help her feel better, Vicki Sams is going to be sending her some bottle caps from Colorado to use in her art, and to let her know we’re all thinking of her. If you happen to have some bottle caps you’ve been saving, please bring them to this month’s meeting
CPHC on 9News!
Last weekend a few of your CPHC phlock headed over to 9News for their 9 Cares Colorado Shares food drive, and we ended up on the news! If you missed the video you can see right here on YouTube. We donated nearly 450 pounds of peanut butter and canned food, which will go to food banks throughout the state. We wanted to thank each of you who donated food over the last several months for making such a large donation possible!
MOTM Photo Contest Winners
For those of you who attended MOTM, you know that we were encouraging you all to take lots of “group photos” so we could try and capture all the fun our phlock was having in Key West! It was tough to judge the best pictures, given that so many were amazing! However I’m happy to say I picked three winners based on the incredible contributions you made to get some great photos. In no particular order, they are:
- Jack Harris, for heading up the most sponteneous photo by somehow getting all 25 (or so) of us out of Smoking Tuna at once for a group shot!
- The Eckmans/Arthurs/Kreiger group for not only submitting a bunch of great photos all over the island, but also for the most creative picture. That screen shot of you all waving from the Hogs Breath Web Cam is awesome!
- Roger Sams, for helping to organize our first big group shot along the beach at Casa Marina, and even getting a behind-the-scenes picture of me trying to herd cats – I mean Parrot Heads. Well done!
If you haven’t seen these photos or our MOTM photo album, you are missing out! Check out all the MOTM photos by clicking here to view the album on our CPHC website.
Winners, we’ll have a little goodie bag prize for you at this weekend’s meeting. For everyone else, thanks for contributing, even if you just showed up and smiled!
That’s all for today. Stay warm out there!
Fins up!
