Hi everyone, and Happy New Year! I hope 2017 has been good to you so far.
Now that the holidays are behind us, we have some important work ahead of us… it’s time to get moving on our 2017 Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade Float! We have a lot of work to do, so let’s get to it…
St. Patrick’s Day Float Planning Info
This year we are going to do things just a bit differently.
This year I want to have a designated Build Team and Design Team, and I’m going to reach out to a few of you to help lead these teams. The fact of the matter is, I can definitely help manage the project, but I’m not an artist or a builder, so I’m going to look to some of you to help lead in those areas. Then, everyone else who wants to help out will be able to volunteer to the team of their choice. Hopefully having some knowledgeable folks as the Build and Design team leaders will help things run smoother than ever. But before we can design and build it, first we need to know what “it” is …
We are looking for ideas to help create our CPHC float theme!
The 2017 St. Patrick’s Day Parade theme is the Emerald Celebration. But what will our CPHC float theme be? Obviously we can build off their idea, or we can come up with something on our own. But this is where we need input from our members. All members are invited to be part of the theme discussion, so bring your ideas and join us for a float planning session.
We will be having a Float Planning Meeting next Wednesday, January 18 at Hoppers.
Join us from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to discuss your ideas for the theme and the title of our float. If you can’t attend, you can also email me your ideas, just get them in before next Wednesday. We will discuss all the ideas, and ideally come to a consensus on a theme. If we can’t decide on a theme that night, we’ll at least pick the top 2 or 3, so we can put them up for vote at the January meeting. We want to have our idea finalized by the night of the meeting, so we need to move fast.
As soon as we have a final idea, or theme, we will get together with our Build and Design Team Leaders to come up with the final design, and we can really start planning! At that point we’ll also need lots of people to volunteer to help put this plan in motion, but more info on that will come as soon as we have the plan. The parade is Saturday March 11, so if you can volunteer to be a helper this year, save the weekends leading up to that date, as that’s when we’ll likely be building. But again, more info and a full schedule will be posted once we have a plan. It all begins with the plan.
Finally, I want to thank Pete for offering his yard again this year for the build site. We are so very appreciative of all that Pete has done to make our previous floats a success, and appreciate him for helping out again this year. Thanks Pete!
In Other News: Thom & Coley are performing this Sunday in Colorado Springs!
This Sunday, January 15 at 4:00 PM, Thom Shepherd and Coley McCabe will be performing at Roger and Vicki Sam’s home in Colorado Springs. This is your chance to see these two great musicians perform in a small, intimate house concert. It’s a really great time! The cost is $20. Bring your own beverage and a snack to share, and enjoy a wonderful, private show from Thom and Coley! If you are interested in attending, please email Vicki Sams at [email protected] to RSVP or for more information. Chris and I will be there. We hope to see some of you CPHC folks there, too!
That’s all for this week. See you on Wednesday!
Fins up!
