CPHC Weekly News
Happy Friday everyone!
We’re finally recovered from last month’s amazing Party With a Purpose! We hope that all of you who attended had a great time… we sure did. Thanks to all of you we raised a boatload of cash (I think around $11K so far?) plus a truckload of food! Well done!
There are definitely too many of you to thank individually, so please know that I sincerely appreciate each and every one of you who helped before, during, and after this event. Special thanks to Lee & Robin Grodsky for organizing everything & playing host again this year. Next year the location may be different, and who knows, maybe the purpose will change. But I am sure that somewhere, somehow, this party will live on! Thanks for making this event so awesome every year, Parrot Heads!

Our Next PHUNdraiser: The Walk to End Alzheimer’s
Now that we’ve wrapped up our Party With a Purpose, it’s time to look ahead to our next big charity event, the Denver Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease. The walk takes place at Denver City Park on Saturday, September 15 at 9:00 AM. All Parrot Heads and their family and friends are invited to join us as we walk to raise awareness and funds to fight this horrible disease. There is no cost to walk with us, and no obligation to raise money towards your walk. We do appreciate anything you can do to raise funds for our team, but even if you just show up and walk with us, that’s a great way to support the cause. Please consider signing up or making a donation towards our team… or both! You can learn more about the event and how to join or donate by visiting http://act.alz.org/goto/CPHC.
Halloween Parade Decision Time…
The Colorado Parrot Head Club has been invited to participate in the 2nd annual Denver Broadway Halloween Parade on Saturday, October 20. If you joined us for the parade last year you know how fun it was! If you missed out, you can learn all about the parade at their website: broadwayhalloweenparade.com/about.html or you can check out our photos from the event in our Halloween Parade Photo Album on Facebook. It was a great time!
Now the bad news… Chris and I have tickets to see Jimmy Buffett in Las Vegas on the same night as the parade. If we want to participate this year, I need someone (or several someones) to step up and offer to be in charge of the event. The plus is that this parade is very casual… there are no votes, no awards, and we aren’t even required to have a float! Plus if someone wants to run this event, I would definitely be on board to help secure you a parade budget (from the club or via sponsorship) that you could use for the parade… I just won’t physically be here on parade day. So, if you want CPHC to participate in the parade again this year, please let me know if you’d be willing to help make this happen. I can put any/all interested folks in touch as a sort of Halloween Parade Committee, and you can run the show from there. Email me at [email protected] if you’re interested, or have questions or ideas.
August 22: Mark Mulligan House Concert
Mark Mulligan & guitarist Rudy Bruggeman will be coming through Colorado this month, and JJ & Donna will be hosting him for a house concert at their home in Shiloh Ranch (Colorado Springs) on Wednesday, August 22. The gathering will begin around 6:00 PM, and music will start at 6:30 PM. This is a rain or shine event. Bring your own lawn chairs, beverage of choice, and a dish to share. A $20 per person donation is requested, which all goes to the musicians. For more information about the show and how to RSVP, click here to view a flyer for the show with all more information. It will definitely be a good time!
Reminder: Our CPHC Election is Just Over 100 Days Away!
Just another reminder that this is a CPHC election year. This November you will all choose a new CPHC President. Currently, we have one candidate, Pete Grosskreuz. If you are an active member and interested in running (or finding out more about the responsibilities) please let me know. There are just a few months left before the vote so if you want more info, please contact me. If you aren’t interested in running for President but are interested in the possibility of helping the next Prez as a member of our Board, let me know that, too. It takes a phlock to run this club… so no matter who is our next President, we know they would appreciate your offer to help!
That’s all the news from me. If I missed something, please email [email protected] to let me know and I’ll add it next time.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Fins UP!
