It’s finally here… Party With a Purpose is this weekend!

Tomorrow will be a day filled with amazing music, great food and drink, and plenty of fun times. Whether you will be at PWAP tomorrow or not, there are a lot of fun events going on this weekend, so read on for all the details.

Tomorrow, July 21: Party With a Purpose!

The 6th Annual Party With a Purpose is tomorrow, Saturday, July 21. If you have still procrastinated on your tickets, today is your last chance. Contact host Lee to purchase your ticket today. Here are the details you need to know for tomorrow’s party:

Party With a Purpose Info
When: Saturday, July 21. Doors open at 1 PM; music starts at 2 PM.
Where: Lee & Robin Grodsky’s home, Castle Rock, CO
Tickets: $25 and should be purchased in advance; contact Lee for tickets. (See newsletter for the email address)

This Year’s Entertainment
Music kicks off at 2 PM with the three amigos from Three Sheets – Bubba, Brian and Jim. After they play, the music continues with trop rocker Donny Brewer, and returning PWAP favorites Thom Shephard and Coley McCabe. You won’t want to miss any of this great musical lineup.

This Year’s Raffle & Silent Auction
Bring your wallet or your checkbook because there are more than 2 dozen incredible raffle prizes up for grabs in this year’s raffle and silent auction. This may be our biggest yet! We will take credit cards, checks and of course, cash. 100% of the raffle and silent auction proceeds go to TLC Meals on Wheels, so be generous.. and you just may come home with a great prize!

What To Bring / What Not To Bring

  • Please bring your own chairs, blanket, and shade; pop-up tents are welcome and will be staged in the back and side of the yard to avoid blocking anybody’s view.
  • This is a rain or shine event and takes place outdoors, so plan accordingly. Often the afternoon is hot but the early evening can get chilly, so dress in layers. There is a chance of rain tomorrow, so bring along those umbrellas and raincoats, too. In short, prepare for anything!
  • BYO favorite beverage; water and limited non-alcoholic beverages will be available.
  • Please bring a side dish to share. All your homemade sides have helped to make the PWAP an awesome potluck. As we have in the past, we’ll provide the main courses, typically burgers, BBQ, etc., as well as all your serving utensils, cups, plates, etc.
  • We will be collecting items for TLC Meals on Wheels, so please consider bringing non-perishable food and care items. They need items for humans and pets, so bring whatever you can and help us fill our trailer with donations.
  • Feel free to bring your friends and family members, even if they aren’t Parrot Heads. If this sounds like their kind of event, I’m sure we’d love to have them join the party (ticket required; must be 21)
  • Please leave your kiddos and/or furbabies with a sitter. This is a 21+ event.
  • Bring money! Again, we will accept cash, check or credit/debit card. We only have one credit card swiper, so have patience if you’re planning to use a credit card… or bring the checkbook if you’re not the patient type.

Remember, this is an outdoor event
Lee and Robin are gracious enough to offer their yard and patio for this party, but please remember that their house is off-limits. Nobody should go inside the house unless invited or accompanied by Lee or Robin. Restrooms (porta-potties) are provided in the entry. Please respect their home and yard by ensuring it looks just as nice when we leave as it did when we arrived. Pack out all your stuff, and pick up all your trash.

Parking, Drop-Off & Food Trailer
If this is your first PWAP, you should know that there is a bit of a walk up the driveway from the road where you’ll park at the party. If necessary, items or attendees can be dropped off at the top of the driveway but there is absolutely no parking up by the house; you’ll need to drop off & drive back down to park. If you’re bringing food donations, you’ll see the food trailer parked on the road by the driveway entrance, so you can drop your food donations there and not bring them up.

PWAP Day Volunteers
Thank you to everyone who has already reached out to help us during this party. If you haven’t said you wanted to volunteer but can spare an hour or two to help out, please let us know when you arrive. We can always use a few extra hands to help out during the day.

Finally…
The key word in “Party With a Purpose” is PARTY. We hope you all have a really fun time tomorrow and look forward to spending the day with you! Just remember, you do have to get home after the party, so please party responsibly. If you overindulge and find you need some help getting home, please come find Chris or me.

Thom, Coley & Donny House Concert, Sunday, July 22
If you can’t make PWAP, or if like us you just love Trop Rock and want to see these folks twice, you can see Thom Shepherd, Coley McCabe and Donny Brewery again on Sunday, July 22 in Colorado Springs. The trio will be playing a house concert at Roger & Vicki Sam’s home. The party kicks off at 4 PM, and music starts at 5 PM. Admission is $20 (which goes to the musicians); BYO beverages, lawn chair, and a snack to share with the group. Email Vicki (see newsletter for email address) to RSVP, or for more info.

Las Vegas Ticket Opportunity
One of our members purchased 4 club tickets to Jimmy Buffett’s Las Vegas concert at MGM Grand on October 20, but now they find they can’t attend the show. The tickets are $107/each. If you missed out on club tickets and are interested, please let me know.

That’s all the news from me. I’ll see many of you this weekend.
