CPHC Weekly News
Hello Parrot Heads!
It may be April 6th, but it sure does feel like the weather is playing an April Fools Day prank on us today! It’s Rockies Opening Day and it’s snowing? Oh, Colorado… you’ve done it again with your unpredictable spring weather! What is even funnier is that in about 5 or 6 days our thermostats will be up near 80-degrees. Crazy!
Enough talk about the weather. Let’s get to this week’s news:
Events This Weekend
There are no official club events this weekend, but there is a fun unofficial event that we think a few Parrot Heads may be attending. If you like beer, maybe this one is for you:
Maui Express Release Party Luau
WHEN: Tomorrow, Saturday, April 7, from 11am-5pm
WHERE: Denver Beer Co Arvada (5768 Olde Wadsworth Blvd, Arvada, Colorado 80002)
WHAT: Join the party at Denver Beer in Arvada to celebrate the return of their Coconut IPA. They’re transforming their brewery into a tropical paradise for the party, and guests are encouraged to dress in their finest luau attire! There will be raffles all day with Denver Beer Co prizes. Tickets can be earned with the purchase of the Coconut IPA, or get a ticket for wearing a luau-inspired costume.
For more info you can view the event on Facebook at facebook.com/events/600954906918332/
More Events This Month
The Southern Drawl Band is making an appearance in Colorado next month and will be playing two local shows! If you’ve ever seen the band at Meeting of the Minds or heard them on Margaritaville, you know they are pretty awesome, especially live. Here are the details on how you can see the Southern Drawl Band in Colorado this month:
Southern Drawl Band in Colorado Springs
WHEN: Friday, April 20 at 6 PM – 11 PM
WHERE: The Social, 3506 North Academy, Colorado Springs CO 80916
WHAT: Get 2 acts for the price of one! The show kicks off with the Papi & Friends Dueling Piano Show featuring special guest friends John Tuck and Amy Behrman, followed by the Southern Drawl Band! Tickets are $15 and available at the door.
Southern Drawl Band in Denver
WHEN: Saturday, April 21, 6 PM – 9 PM
WHERE: Be On Key Psychedelic Ripple, 1700 Logan Street, Denver, CO 80203
WHAT: Yes, this is the night of our April CPHC meeting, but if you want to support great music by going to see the show, we’d accept that as a good excuse to be absent for the meeting! Tickets for this show are $15 at the door, and music starts at 7 PM. And if you think this bar sounds like a Grateful Dead sort of place, that’s because it is! Stick around after the Southern Drawl Band show, and check out the Grateful Dead cover band that takes the stage at 9:30 PM.

Updates on Other Upcoming Events
JUNE 9: Margaritaville Night at the Rockies Game
Saturday, June 9 is Margaritaville Night at Coors Field. There will be live music before the game, and a free Margaritaville t-shirt for people who purchase the Margaritaville Night ticket package. We’re putting together a list of folks who want to get in on our group ticket order, so if you haven’t already signed up, please email Michael Arthurs to get your name on the list. We’ll send prices and other details to everyone who signed up soon so we can get our group tickets purchased ASAP. Email Mike at today if you want to get in on this group ticket order.
JUNE 28: Eagles feat. Jimmy Buffett Concert – Pre-Show Party Update
We don’t have full details yet, but it looks like there will be lots of options for those of you who want to pre-party before the Eagles/Jimmy Buffett show on June 28. As you know there will not be a traditional tailgate party for this show, given that it’s not a traditional Buffett show. Since the Eagles are headlining and the show is at Coors Field (which does not permit tailgating) we’re working with some local LoDo area bars on some fun happenings for that afternoon. Right now it looks like there may be a few different options to pre-game… but again, all the details haven’t come together yet. Stay tuned for more info and know we’re working on it, and specifics of all the pre-show events will be coming soon.
JULY 21: Party With a Purpose – Volunteers/Donations Needed Now!
As a reminder, the annual Party With a Purpose benefiting TLC Meals on Wheels is happening Saturday, July 21. Tickets are $25 and available now from Lee Grodsky – let us know if you want details on how to get in touch with Lee. As a reminder: we still need volunteers (i.e.: YOU!) to help us in creating some fun and unique gift baskets and/or prizes for our charity raffle and silent auction. If each of you could talk to your friends, family, etc., and try to get ONE item donated, we think we could have some really great items to give away! There is nothing too small (and definitely not too large!) to be considered, so let us know if you can help out. Items, gift certificates, services… almost anything can be made into a raffle or auction prize. July will be here before you know it, so help us gather items now! For questions or to learn how you can help, email us at
SEPTEMBER 15: Join Team CPHC in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s!
The Colorado Parrot Head Club is once again participating as a team in the Denver Walk to End Alzheimer’s. We’d love to have you walk with us, raise money with us, or just donate to the cause! There is no charge to participate in the walk, and no requirement to raise money. However, this is an important cause, so anything you can raise or donate will help. To learn more, sign up to walk, or donate, click to visit our Colorado PHC Walk to End Alzheimers page.
NOVEMBER 17: CPHC Presidental Election
As a reminder, this is an election year for the Colorado Parrot Head Club! And while I have thoroughly loved my time as President, it’s time to pass the Parrot Head Hat to the next fearless leader. Maybe that could be you? If you want more information on what it means to lead this club, please let me know. Whether you take it on as an individual, a couple, or a group … we look forward to seeing what fun our next crew of leaders have in store for this club! It’s not as hard as you may think, it’s not as time-consuming as you may think, and Chris and I will help whoever decides to take the helm next. So if you have questions or want to officially state your interest, please reply and let me know!
That’s all the news for this week. I probably forgot something, as I often do. If I missed something or if you have news to share, please send it my way at .
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the rollercoaster of weather headed our way during the upcoming week!
Fins Up!
