Hello Parrot Heads!

I hope that you have all fully recovered from St. Patrick’s Day! It was a wonderfully fun day, and I’m so thankful to all of you who came out to participate in the parade with us. We had a great float, wonderful weather, and I think it’s safe to say that we all had a good time! If you haven’t seen our parade photo album on Facebook, you can also check it out on our website at coloradoparrotheadclub.org/photos/. You can find our parade photos there, plus albums with photos from many other previous events.

Now that we’ve totally wrapped up this year’s parade, here’s the other news of the week:

Memorial for Larry Durkee

As I mentioned last week, we recently lost a long-time Parrot Head and a friend to many in our phlock when Larry Durkee passed away on Saturday, March 10. Larry’s family has planned a memorial service to be held next Thursday at the Stone House in Lakewood, which is located in a park where Larry enjoyed frequent walks. Below are the details for those of you who wish to attend.

Larry Durkee Memorial Service Details

WHEN: Thursday, March 29 at 10:30 AM
WHERE: The Stone House, 2900 S Estes St, Lakewood CO 80227

If you would like to make a donation in Larry’s name, please donate to the American Cancer Society.

Are you heading to Chicago to see Buffett this summer?

Unofficial CPHC Gathering Alert!

One of our members shared with us a fun local event that sounds like it would be perfect for Parrot Heads, especially those of us who like beer! Denver Beer Co in Arvada is hosting a release party for the return of their Maui Express Coconut IPA on Saturday, April 7. They are transforming the brewery into a tropical paradise for the party, and encouraging guests to wear their finest tropical attire. Raffle tickets will be given out all day for purchasing a pint of Maui Express, and an additional raffle ticket will be handed out for amazing luau inspired costumes! Every hour they will be drawing tickets to give out Denver Beer Co swag, Maui Express crowlers, and even a Maui Express keg! If you like craft beer and you want to mix some hula with your hops, head on over. You’ll probably run into some Colorado Parrot Heads there!

This is not an official CPHC event, it just sounded like one that we thought would be fun! If you hear about an event or activity that you think your fellow Parrot Heads would love, let us know! We will share it with the group on our Facebook page (under Events) and, when possible, in our newsletter. Just send us the details at news@colophc.org.

That’s all the news I have for today. Again, if you have any news, updates, events you think look fun, or events you want to host, please shoot it over to me at news@colophc.org. You know how us birds of a feather love to phlock together!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy your first weekend of Spring!
