There will be NO FLOAT BUILD tomorrow (Friday).
No need to cut into your happy hour time tomorrow, we won’t be meeting at Pete’s to work on the float. However…
We will meet to “Finish the Float” on Saturday, 10/21, 9:00 AM
Join us on Saturday to put our float together and add all the important finishing touches! We will meet at Pete’s house at 9:00 AM, and expect it will just take a few hours. We’ll probably be doing some painting, some assembly, and whatever other random stuff needs to get done… so wear your work clothes. There should be time for you to get home to change into your parade attire after if you come to help.
Saturday: Where to go & when to get there
Staging takes place from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on parade day, so plan on arriving at 4:30 p.m. If you drive, park at the old Kmart parking lot at West Alameda & Bannock. From there parade participants can hop on a shuttle bus to get to the starting area at 5th and Bannock. Staging will be in Denver Health’s Rita Bass Parking lot. Only parade vehicles can park at the starting area, so take advantage of the parking lot & shuttle.
Need to hitch a ride on our haunted float?
If you don’t know if you can walk the entire parade route, we do have space on the float for you. Please email me to let me know you may need to ride, and we’ll save you a spot to ride. Just contact me at
Parade day weather
October can bring just about any type of weather to Colorado, but it looks like Mother Nature will be nice to us on parade day! Currently, the forecast calls for a cool day, especially when you consider the sun should be setting just around the time the parade kicks off. Plan on incorporating a jacket or some layers in your costume if you’re cold blooded. Even zombies can get chilly when the sun goes down!
Who wants candy?
We do! More accurately, all the kids (big and small) along the parade route do! We will pick up several bags, but if you can bring a bag to donate we definitely encourage it. We’ll have small, disposable bags you can use to fill up with candy to hand to the crowd. Just remember to HAND it to them, because like all the other parades we participate in, we cannot throw anything into the crowd.
Post-parade shenanigans
After the parade, make your way to the Fainting Goat (846 Broadway, Denver) to join your fellow Parrot Heads for some treats of the alcoholic variety… because if there is one thing zombie parrot heads like more than brains, it’s definitely booze!
