Parade Updates!!

So… anyone have big plans for the weekend?

Just kidding of course! We are just 2 days away from participating in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade this weekend. In today’s newsletter I want to review what we have going on each day as we prepare for, and participate in, this big parade. We have so much to cover, so let’s get started:

Thursday, March 10: Start the Party!
If you are looking for a way to kick of St. Patrick’s Day, don’t forget that tonight The Fainting Goat is hosting the19th Annual Donohue St. Patrick’s Day Party! They will have the Michael Collins Pipes and Drums, an Irish buffet, drinks, and a silent auction. A donation of $30 is suggested for entry, which goes to benefit the Avielle Foundation. The party happens tonight from 4pm to 11pm. We would love to see you there!

Friday, March 11: Final Float Build
Friday we’ll be doing finishing touches on the float, and loading it up for Saturday. We’ll be at the build site at Pete’ Grosskreuz’s home beginning at 10:00 AM, and staying until we’re done, which we hope will only be a few hours. If you need wristbands, this is your last chance to pick them up before parade day! Otherwise, please know this is not a “all hands on deck” build day, since we only have a few items to complete. If you’ve been helping us out with the wagon and construction, we’d love to see you there for finishing touches. We’ll see the rest of you early on Saturday…

Saturday, March 12: Parade Day!
If all goes as planned, we will be arriving at the Coors Field parking lot for staging no later than 8:00 AM. We will need volunteers to help with final decorations, setting up the critters, installing the canvas top on the wagon, etc. If you want to help out please be there by 8:00 AM and see me, and I’ll direct you to a project.

Everyone else should plan on arriving at the staging area by 8:30 AM. Have your IDs handy so we can stamp your hands, and we’ll have drinks ready to go once the float finishing is complete. Please also bring some cash to tip our Duffy’s driver – he is volunteering his time so let’s show him our appreciation!

We stage in the Coors Field parking lot. You can enter the staging area at 33rd & Blake. Here’s what you need to know to find us once you’re inside:
Float Entry Name: Colorado Parrot Head Club
Unit Number: 1-15
Staging Time: 8:30 AM
Staging Address: Large Entry

For FULL details on parade day including where to park, what to bring, what to wear & more, read the FAQs we sent out last week using the link below:
2016 St. Patrick’s Day Parade Update

Remember that you must have a wristband to participate with us in the parade. If you haven’t gotten your wristbands yet, stop by the build site Friday. If you can’t make it, please reach out to me so we can make other arrangements. Only individuals with wristbands can march with us!

Also, we still need volunteers to check IDs and to carry our club banner! If you want to volunteer please let me know. We would love to have several folks step up to help with the banner, so you can all do it for just a little bit of time each, so team up and help us out!

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, remember that you are fully responsible for yourself and any family members/guests you may have at the parade. We want everyone to have fun, but let’s have some good, safe, totally-silly-but-still-responsible fun!

Don’t forget our parade after party!
We hope to see all of you Parrot Heads, Cowboys and Flamingos at our parade after party at The Fainting Goat! Tell your friends and family to meet us at The Goat after the parade for a celebration of another successful parade year!

Sunday, March 13: Tear Down Day
Once the party is over we’ll be gathering one more time at Pete’s place to disassemble our float. Please be there at 10:00 am. We know lots of you like to start early, but Pete’s neighbors may enjoy sleeping in, and with Daylight Savings starting on Sunday, 10:00 am will already feel like 9:00 am, so that seems early enough.

Upcoming Events:
Don’t forget that we will have a regular club meeting at Hopper’s next weekend on Saturday, March 19th. If you have photos to share from the parade, bring them along on a flash drive or email them to me at [email protected], and we can combine all the great pictures to share with the club! We also have some fun events on the horizon that we can talk about at the meeting. Our first Beer Friday of the year is on the calendar for April 8th at Glenn and Marilyn Schwoegler’s house! We also have confirmed the summer Party With A Purpose concert for August 20th at Lee and Robin Grodsky’s house. This year Thom Shepherd and Coley McCabe will be playing, and you can get tickets starting at our March meeting. Stay tuned for even more fun events to be announced soon! .

That’s all for now. See you this weekend!!
