TGIF Parrot Heads!

The weekend is finally upon us! Remember, there is no club meeting tomorrow… because we have a big PARTY to attend instead… a Party With a Purpose!  We hope to see you there!

Tomorrow is the day of the Party With a Purpose house concert and fundraiser! The party starts at 1pm at Lee and Robin’s home (2241 Hawken Dr, Castle Rock, CO 80109). In case you’ve been living under a rock, or you never read the emails, the PWAP will feature live music all day from awesome performers like our own Three Sheets & Brian Wunderlich. That right there should be enough, but there will be other performances too, including headliners John Frinzi and Aaron Scherz. In addition to all the music, there will be loads of great food, plus amazing prizes you can win in the raffles & silent auction. Best of all, proceeds for the PWAP will go to TLC Meals on Wheels.

But you probably already know all about the party, so instead, today we’ll focus on a few reminders that you may not have heard (or may have forgotten). Plus we have other news! Let’s get to it!

Are you ready to Party With a Purpose tomorrow?

Whether this is your first year at the party, or you’ve been at every one of them, we wanted to share a few last reminders to make your day as fun as possible.

The party starts at 1PM
Please don’t arrive earlier than 1pm unless you have signed up to volunteer & have been asked to arrive early. There is a lot to be done tomorrow, so “doors” don’t open until 1pm. If you want to help out but forgot to reach out before now, or if you thought you signed up but aren’t sure when you should arrive, you can reach out to Lee directly. Please know that Lee is undoubtedly busy doing last-minute prep, so be patient!

Brother, can you spare a buffet table?
Last week we put out a call for buffet tables, and I honestly have no idea if we have enough. If you have a spare you can bring, let Lee know and he can tell you if you should bring it.

Other things you should bring tomorrow:

  • Cash, plus your checkbook and/or credit card. There are LOTS of great prizes to win this year, plus some really fantastic prizes in the silent auction. There will be 3 separate raffles: one for Broncos tickets, one for Southwest Airlines tickets, and one for dozens of amazing goodies and gift baskets. The raffles are CASH ONLY, so be prepared. There will also be a silent auction with some incredible stuff up for grabs. Cash or checks are the preferred method of payment for the silent auction, but credit cards will also be taken if needed.
  • Ice, ice, baby! You can almost never have too much ice at a summer party. If you can bring a spare bag, that would be appreciated and put to good use.
  • BYO chairs.  Chairs and/or a blanket to sit on are necessary. You can also bring a canopy for shade if you want, but this is totally optional. If you bring a canopy, please understand that you will be set up in the back of the yard. Also this year, we’re asking that anyone who does bring a canopy “share your shade” with others who may need a break from the summer sun. Share with friends or make new ones.. just share if you can.
  • BYO beverages. Water will be provided, and we have a few bottles of Margaritaville Tea to share. Most likely Robin may even make a batch of her famous (and delicious margaritas. However for the most part, please plan on bringing your own cooler with your drink of choice.
  • Bring a dish to share. We are providing lots of food – burgers, brats, BBQ, etc. Please contribute to the PWAP potluck by bringing a side, snack, or dessert to share. We know y’all can cook… this is the day to show off your awesome skills!
  • Sunscreen! It looks like a beautiful day tomorrow, so prepare for some Colorado sunshine.
  • Dress for a full day of fun… and weather. Plan for a warm day and cooler evening. Since the temperature can really drop when the sun goes down, bring a jacket or blanket if you are the type that can get cold. Also, it’s not supposed to rain but it is Colorado. Be prepared, just in case. This event is RAIN OR SHINE.
  • Bring non-perishable food for Meals on Wheels. Finally, we will be excepting food donations again this year. Bring non-perishable food for people (and pets!) There will be a trailer at the bottom of Lee & Robin’s driveway for you to drop this in when you arrive.

Parking FYIs: Parking will be at the bottom of Lee & Robin’s driveway, and it’s a bit of an uphill walk up. If you need assistance, call me when you arrive 720-839-4572. Alternatively, you can drive up to drop off your stuff, or any of your group members that don’t want to walk. Then drive back down to park along the roadside.

And one last thing…
As we’ve asked each year, be respectful of Lee and Robin’s property. Leave the yard better than you found it, or at least as good as it was when you arrived. Pick up after yourself, make sure you take all your stuff with you when you go. There will be Porta-Potties for use, so please don’t go inside their home without their permission. Lee and Robin give so much to this party each year, including the use of their land. Let’s be respectful. It’s the Parrot Head way!

Any other questions?

Want more John Frinzi & Aaron Scherz? See them in Colorado Springs on Sunday!

As a reminder, John  & Aaron will also be playing a house concert at Roger & Vicki Sam’s home in Colorado Springs on Sunday. If you just can’t get enough, or if you’ll miss Saturday’s show, please go see them. Roger and Vicki are awesome hosts! Even if you’ve never met them, if you go to one of their parties you end up leaving as friends! The Sunday show is $20. For more info or to RSVP contact Roger & Vicki (email in the newsletter)

Party at Pete’s this Labor Day Weekend!

Pete Grosskreuz is having his annual Labor Day weekend party, and you’re invited! If you’ve been to Pete’s house to help us build the St. Patrick’s Day float the last few years, you know that Pete has an awesome backyard… perfect for a party. The party will feature live music, including a performance from Three Sheets. Pete will also be roasting a pig, and just asks that guests bring a side dish to share. We’re still confirming a few details but we’ll have all the info for you in the newsletter next week… so keep watching the CPHC news & plan on being there!

That’s it for today. I hope to see you all tomorrow. It’s going to be PHUN!

Fins Up!
