January Meeting – This Saturday, 1/20/2018
As a reminder, this month we will be raising funds for the Douglas County Fallen Officer Fund.
Because this is a very important charity which is near and dear to many of us, we really want this month’s meeting and fundraiser to be BIG. We have lots of amazing prizes for the raffle and auction, so you will not want to miss out! We have baskets galore, featuring some great items (not your typical monthly raffle junk, I promise!) In addition to the great prizes, we will have live music from Three Sheets to the Wind.
Please join us for our first Party With A Purpose for 2018!
Help us spread the word about this event! As always, our monthly Parrot Head gatherings are open to the public, and anyone who wants to join us. Bring your friends, family, or anyone who may wish to learn more about CPHC or who would like to support this cause. The event is set up on our CPHC Facebook page so share the news and help spread the word!
Also at the January Meeting: Learn about Margaritaville University
In addition to the music and charity raffle, we have a guest coming to our meeting this month. We will have a special guest from Margaritaville University join us to tell us more about this great program. She’s even bringing some awesome prizes for our raffle and auction, as well as some Margaritaville University stickers to hand out!
We look forward to making our first phlocking of 2018 the best ever. See you Saturday!
Parade Planning: Tomorrow night!
It’s time for us to begin the planning for the 2018 Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Tomorrow night several members of the float construction committee and I will be meeting with me at Hopper’s at 6 PM to discuss our build schedule for this year. But before we build, we need to know what to build. That’s where I would like your input.
As far as we know, there is no designated “theme” for this year’s parade. The parade website doesn’t show anything specific, and we haven’t heard of any particular theme. That being said, if you know more than me about this – please let me know.
Without a theme we’re sort of just going to do our own thing (which truth be told, isn’t very different than our normal process!) For the past few years we’ve tossed around the idea of a full-length bar, be it a tiki bar, an Irish pub, a Margaritaville bar, or some combination. I was thinking that without a theme we may want to do that this year – however – I do want all of your input as members. If you have another idea, please join us at Hopper’s tomorrow night and let’s chat. Join us to discuss your ideas for the parade at Hopper’s tomorrow night at 6pm. I’m sorry it’s short notice but would love to see you there if you have ideas.
If you can’t be at Hopper’s tomorrow but you have float ideas, please send me your suggestions via email… the sooner the better. We would love to have everyone’s input this week, but if you can email me before tomorrow night that’s even better. If we get multiple ideas, we like to do our best to see if we can incorporate them into one general theme – otherwise, we’ll the individual ideas up to a vote. Send your ideas to me at … I can’t wait to hear them!
More news and planning details will come as we get nearer to the parade day.
Don’t forget to save the date for the parade! The 2018 Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on Saturday, March 17. Build days will likely take place the 2-3 weekends leading up to the actual parade, so if you can pitch in, save some of those weekend dates as well.
That’s all the news for this week. I hope you all have a great day, and that I see you all later this week.
Fins up!
Jeff
